Trust Information
The Rykken and Scull Charitable Trust has been established by the last will and testament of Judge Walter Richard Rykken, Jr. (August 25, 1931 - January 4, 2000) to make an annual award, or awards, that shall be distributed to a qualified nonprofit organization for the benefit of an individual or individuals, group or groups, that contribute the most to the alleviation of bigotry and prejudice against gay men and lesbians.

Annually, the Trustee shall review the Trust income and expenses and shall determine the amount of income to be distributed to qualified nonprofit organization(s). Annual distribution decisions shall be announced at the PFLAG/NBC, Inc. annual meeting.

Individuals and organizations wishing to apply for awards should write a letter to the committee outlining qualifications for an award. Questions should be directed to the Chair of the Rykken & Scull Charitable Trust Awards Committee.

How To Apply For an Award
Rykken and Skull Charitable Trust Awards are made at the annual PFLAG-NBC Inc. Annual Meeting and Dinner. Recipients are individuals and 501C3s who have contributed the most to the alleviation of bigotry and prejudice against gays and lesbians.

To apply for an award: write a letter, stating the name of the individaul or 501C3 organization being nominated, address, phone number and any other pertinent contact information of the nominee(s). Attach a copy of IRS proof of legal non-profit status in the case of organizations.

In the letter tell how the individual(s) or organization contributed to the alleviation of bigotry and prejudice against gays and/ or lesbians. Be specific, citing dates or broad range of time and specific details pf the contributions.
